Explore Gutter Cleaning & RepairNeed handyman services in Malibu for the small stuff that's been piling up? A slider that grinds on its track. A fist-sized hole in the hallway drywall. A TV that's been leaning against the wall since you moved in. That's our work, and we do it ourselves.
Most visits start with a text. You send a photo and the address, we ask a couple of questions, and we set a time inside the City's construction hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, with no work on Sundays or City holidays. The photo matters. It tells us which rollers, hinges or patch materials to bring, so we're not driving back down PCH for a part we could have spotted in the picture.
Before any tool comes out, you get a price in writing. If the fix is simple, we'll say so. And if it's something you could handle yourself with a part from the hardware store, we'll tell you that too (we'd rather be the people you call for the next one).
A lot of houses here aren't new. The Census puts the median build year in Malibu at 1976, with about 60% of homes built before 1980 (Census Reporter). That can mean original door jambs, plaster-and-lath in some rooms, and decades of paint on the trim. So we open things up expecting a few surprises, like a hinge screw stripped into nothing or a patch hiding an older patch.
Then there's the ocean. The city runs along 21 miles of coastline, and salt air is hard on anything metal that moves: slider rollers, hinges, screen hardware, gate latches, porch fan parts. Up the canyons it's dust, dry brush and long, winding drives. The visit, the parts and the materials get planned around where your house sits. Stainless screws near the water. Exterior-grade caulk on anything that sees weather.
All of Malibu is a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and that shapes even small repairs. CAL FIRE recommends noncombustible metal mesh of 1/16 to 1/8 inch over vents and gutters kept clear of plant debris. So when we're up a ladder for something else, we'll point out melted plastic vent screens or a gutter packed with leaves. Swapping a vent screen or clearing a gutter is quick work.
The City says the recent wildfires destroyed 532 single-family homes, the worst in its history. Plenty of neighbors are rebuilding right now. Our side of that is repair and punch-list work (doors, trim, patches and hardware), and the rebuild itself goes to licensed builders.
California only lets someone without a contractor's license take a job when the total price, labor and materials together, is under $1,000. That exemption doesn't cover any work that needs a building permit. It also doesn't let anyone split a big job into small tickets to stay under it. We don't play that game.
So remodels, new decks, window replacement and permit work go to trusted licensed partners. We also stay out of main electrical panels, gas lines and roofs. Malibu requires a permit and City inspections for every re-roof, and that's a licensed roofer's job. Project lands in that pile? We'll still come look, tell you what we see and point you to a licensed pro.
No sales pitch. Just how we work.
We tell you what's wrong, what it takes to fix and if you even need us. Sometimes the answer is a five-minute adjustment.
You see the number before work starts. If we find something unexpected behind the wall, we stop and talk before going further.
Stainless and coated hardware near the water, 100% silicone in wet spots, metal ember mesh on vents. Cheap parts fail fast on the coast.
Jobs over the state limit or that need a permit go to a licensed partner. You hear that up front, not halfway through.
Three steps, and you know the price before step three.
Call or text with a picture of the problem and your address. A wide shot and a close-up help the most.
We look at it, in person if needed, and send a price in writing. Nothing starts until you say yes.
We do the work, haul off the old parts, sweep up and walk you through what we did.
Same crew, same honest pricing, for your own house or a unit you manage.

Punch lists, move-in fixes and the stuff you've been meaning to get to for a year. Pets, kids and your schedule get worked around, and floors get covered before we cut anything.

We handle the repair and small-upgrade side ourselves: a loose tile, a new vanity faucet, a few rotten deck boards. Full remodels, new decks and window replacements go to trusted licensed partners, because California's handyman limit is under $1,000 and excludes permit work. We stay your first call and your contact for the referral.

You know the drill. You call about a small repair, and either nobody calls back or someone shows up, rushes it and leaves a mess. A month later the caulk is peeling or the door sticks again.
Zacharias grew up in Guatemala, and he's built three houses there for his family and relatives. When the house is for your own people, you don't cut corners you'd have to look at every holiday. That's how he treats a sticky slider or a hole in the drywall here.
He's a husband and a dad to four girls, and his Christian faith is a big part of his life. So is keeping his word. You get a straight answer on what's wrong, a price in writing and a clean floor when we leave. If the job is too big for us, you hear that on day one.
Got a list of small stuff? Call Zacharias. He'll come look at it and tell you straight.
Three houses built for family in Guatemala. Now fixing the small stuff for Malibu neighbors.
Repairs and small projects: drywall patches, door and slider fixes, TV mounting, caulking and grout, touch-up painting, fan and light swaps, gutter cleaning, fence and deck repair. Remodels, new decks and window replacement go to licensed partners. Not sure which bucket your job falls in? Send a photo and we'll tell you.
HomeGuide puts handyman rates in Los Angeles at $60 to $120 an hour. That's a public cost guide, not our rate. Your price comes in writing after we see photos or the problem itself. Parts, access and how many small jobs you bundle into one visit all move it.
California limits unlicensed work to jobs under $1,000 total that don't need a permit. Remodels are well past that. We'll fix the small stuff and connect you with a licensed partner for the rest. And we won't break a remodel into small pieces to sneak under the limit, since the same law rules that out.
Often not. The City of Malibu says cosmetic work like paint, floor tile and window coverings doesn't need a permit. Jobs that do need one go to a licensed partner, and if we're not sure which side yours falls on, we'll tell you before starting.
Yes, and please do. A photo of the problem and a wider shot of the area tell us most of what we need to give you a price and bring the right parts. A short video helps for anything that moves, like a slider that grinds or a gate that drags.
Call or text a photo of the problem. We'll give you a straight answer and a written price.
