Local Handyman Services in Pacific Palisades, CA

Repairs and small projects for Palisades homes that came through standing. Rebuilds go to licensed partners.

If your house in the Palisades is still standing, it still needs the ordinary stuff fixed: a door that drags, a cracked tile, a screen that tore when you packed up the car. That's what our handyman services in Pacific Palisades, CA are for. We're a small crew out of Malibu, and we work on homes people are living in right now.

We'll be straight about the rest. We don't rebuild houses, and we don't take on anything that needs a permit. When a job is a rebuild, an addition or anything with plans, it goes to one of our trusted licensed partners. You keep calling us, and we keep you in the loop.

What's Different About Handyman Work in Pacific Palisades

It's City of LA, so LADBS

The Palisades is part of the City of Los Angeles, so building permits come from LADBS. Not the county, and not Malibu City Hall down the road. If a fix on your list turns out to need an LADBS permit, that's the moment it stops being a handyman job.

The January 2025 fire

The Palisades Fire started on January 7, 2025. CAL FIRE counts 23,448 acres burned, 6,845 structures destroyed and 975 more damaged. If your home was one of the damaged ones and it's livable again, the leftover small stuff is where we fit: a heat-warped gate latch, a melted vinyl screen, a run of fence boards.

Rebuilding next door

The City reported over 1,070 rebuilding permits for more than 540 Palisades addresses as of November 2025. That's a lot of construction around standing homes. Dust packs into slider tracks, and screens take a beating, so cleaning tracks and swapping worn rollers can end up on the list.

Brush rules up to 200 feet

Parts of the Palisades sit in the City's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, where the Municipal Code calls for clearing hazardous brush up to 200 feet from structures unless the Fire Chief says otherwise. We don't do brush clearance. But the house side of it is ours: metal ember mesh on vents, gutters cleaned out, a metal drip edge.

1960s bones

Census survey data put the median build year in ZIP 90272 at 1967, and those numbers were collected before most of the rebuilding. So for a lot of the houses that made it, think original doors settled out of square, windows painted shut and angle stops nobody has turned in decades.

Homeowners in Pacific Palisades

In the Palisades that usually means owners living in a house that made it through, or families renting nearby while their own lot gets rebuilt. Either way it's punch-list work. Patch the drywall, rehang the closet door, mount the TV in the rental.

Rentals and small businesses

On the commercial side we keep it small: a shop along Sunset with a door closer that slams, or a property manager with a few rentals and a list. Storefront build-outs and tenant improvements go to licensed partners.

How to Get Started in Pacific Palisades

01

Text a photo

Send a picture of the problem and your cross street. If your block still has rebuild crews and trucks, tell us the best way in so we're not circling.

02

We come look

Zacharias comes out and tells you on the spot whether it's a handyman fix or something that needs an LADBS permit and a licensed partner.

03

Get the price first

You see the price in writing before we start. State law (B&P Code §7048) keeps us to jobs under $1,000 total, labor and materials included, with no permit needed.

04

Fix it and clean up

We do the work and haul the debris. And if your list includes the addition you've been sketching while the street rebuilds, we'll connect you with a partner for it.

Pacific Palisades Handyman FAQ

Do you offer handyman services in Pacific Palisades, CA for fire-damaged homes?

Yes, if the home is standing and you're living in it or about to move back. Doors, screens, drywall, gutters and fences are all fair game. Structural repair, rebuilding and anything that needs an LADBS permit goes to a licensed partner, and we'll tell you which is which when we look.

Can you work on my rebuild?

Not on the build itself. A rebuild needs permits and licensed trades. Once you're moved back in, though, we're glad to hang art, mount TVs, touch up the paint the movers scuffed and caulk the tubs (the small stuff that never makes the builder's list).

Do you do brush clearance?

No. Clearing brush in the hazard zone is landscaping work, and it's not ours. The house itself is: ember-resistant vent mesh in 1/16 to 1/8 inch metal, clean gutters, a metal drip edge and a sealed gap under the garage door. Small jobs, all of them.

My house is from the '60s. What should I check first?

The things that fail quietly. Old shutoff valves under sinks and toilets, the wax ring under a toilet that rocks, and exterior doors that no longer latch tight. Each one is a small fix now and a bigger one after it leaks.
